By looking at the spec sheet of Audi
Sport’s new RS6 Avant, it’s hard not to fall for what is essentially a very
practical, very spacious, and very luxurious wagon, that also happens to be
capable of embarrassing genuine sports cars on the road.
Nought to 100 km/h takes a 3.6
seconds and the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 develops 592 HP and 800 Nm of torque. ABT was not that impressed by the performance and
decided that the super estate needs even more muscle: 690 HP and 880 Nm of torque.
Obtained by adding their engine control
unit, the extra oomph helps the car shed 0.3 seconds off the 0-100
km/h acceleration dropping it down to just 3.3 seconds. If that hasn’t blown
your mind yet, the this will: the tuned RS6 Avant is faster than the base 2019
R8 V10 coupe! The German supercar, which shares many components with the
Lamborghini Huracan, including a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 that
produces 562 HP and 560 Nm, does the 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. Just imagine yourself driving home loaded with a
van’s worth of supermarket stuff in your trunk and going toe-to-toe with an R8
– not that you would, but think about it.
In addition to the engine upgrade, you
won’t find much else on the tuner’s shelves for the new RS6 Avant, apart from a
couple of entrance lights. However, their offering will soon expand to include
new alloy wheels, which will suit other models as well. Although they did not
say it, we expect some subtle exterior and interior tweaks for the fast wagon
in the near future, but until that happens, you can play with their online
configurator found here, which has different vehicles from Audi, Cupra, Seat, Skoda
and Volkswagen.
