A new image of the production-ready Lucid
Air has surfaced online as the electric automaker continues construction at its
factory in Casa Grande, Arizona. Lucid will lift the veil on the
production-ready Air at April’s New York Auto Show. The image in question shows
off the rear of the finished car and confirms that the design has stuck true to
the original show car. With that being side, some minor tweaks have been made.
For example, the LED taillights don’t
appear quite as thin nor as complex as those of the show car. In addition, the
Lucid Air pictured seems to sport a slightly more pronounced rear lip spoiler.
We can also see newly-designed wheels and have noticed that the two small
sharkfin antennas of the show car have been removed, resulting in a slightly
cleaner design.
Beyond the new rear end, previous teasers
of the road-ready Lucid Air have shown that minor adjustments have been made at
the front, including the fitment of simplified (yet still striking) LED
headlights.
As for the factory being built by Lucid in
Arizona, ground-breaking happened late last year and the site is tipped to
commence production of the Air towards the end of this year. The facility will
use 67,400,000 pounds of concrete and 11,353,900 pounds of steel. The Lucid Air
will initially arrive with a launch model dubbed the ‘Dream Edition.’ The car
will utilize a 900-volt system and in testing has been able to travel more than 643 km on a single charge.
