The German carmaker has shared a short teaser vid announcing a new India-only crossover SUV by the name of Taigun. The car has the same bumpers, rails and lights as the design study revealed in February this year.
At around 4.2 meters long with 2,650 mm of
wheelbase, the newcomer approaches the Euro-spec T-Cross in terms of size. It
comes based on the MQB-A0-IN platform shared with a similar Skoda-branded CUV
scheduled for March 2021 premiere.
Customers will likely be able to choose
between a 1.0L turbo with 110 PS and a 1.5L turbo with 150 PS. Transmissions will include manual and seven-speed DSG. Sales
will start in the second quarter of 2021, and all prices and trim levels are
pending. Rumor has it that in its cheapest guise, the Taigun will aim to cost
less than 10 Rs Lakh. This would make it more affordable than its main rival,
the Hyundai Creta.
