An entry-level variant of the 2022 Aston Martin DBX with a mild-hybrid six-cylinder engine has just been introduced in China. The powertrain in question has been sourced from Mercedes-AMG and takes the form of a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six paired to a 48-volt integrated starter generator (ISG). This engine delivers 435 hp and 520 Nm of torque and the ISG can provide an extra 250 Nm of torque for up to three seconds of additional acceleration. Coupled to the engine is a nine-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. The SUV can hit 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and continue through to a 259 km/h top speed.

Various other components distinguish the six-cylinder DBX from other models in the range. For example, it has a Mercedes-AMG-sourced electronic limited-slip differential at the rear and has been fitted with a carbon fiber driveshaft, three-chamber adaptive air suspension, and 48-volt electronically controlled anti-roll bars.

While the mild-hybrid variant of the Aston Martin DBX doesn’t have the performance to match its 542 hp V8 sibling, it is more fuel efficient as it has a claimed combined fuel economy figure of 10.5 l/100 km (22.4 mpg) under WLTP testing compared to 14.3 l/100 km (16.4 mpg) combined for the V8 model. A number of unique wheels are available for the mild-hybrid model, ranging from 21 to 23 inches. The SUV also has distinctive Straight-Six lettering on the front quarter panels to distinguish it from other variants.

Local pricing for the 2022 Aston Martin DBX Straight-Six starts at 1.898 million Chinese yuan (US$ 297,000), significantly lower than the 2.298 million Chinese yuan (US$ 360,000) starting price of the V8 model.
