The 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor has been a long time coming and in the next few months, is expected to be unveiled. Before that happens, various images of a lightly-camouflaged prototype have hit the web. This particular Bronco Raptor prototype was recently tested by The Bronco Nation and only has skin-tight camouflage across the hood, tailgate, and along its sides, providing us with an excellent look at the upgraded design.
The most obvious difference between the
Bronco Raptor and lesser Bronco models will be the presence of wider front and
rear wheel arches that give the off-roader an even more extreme presence on the
road. These new arches will also allow Ford to equip the vehicle with larger
37-inch off-road tires.
Elsewhere, we can see that the Bronco
Raptor rides much higher than the standard model, providing it with more ground
clearance. The front bumper looks largely the same as the regular model,
although we can see it has been equipped with a new blacked-out grille with large
‘Ford’ text as opposed to the ‘Bronco’ script featured on the grilles of lesser
models.
Alterations made to the rear are less
obvious but the taillights look to have been tinted and have a simpler light
signature. The Bronco
Nation suggests that the Bronco Raptor will ditch the current 2.7-liter
EcoBoost V6 of the standard ‘range-topping’ model and instead use Ford’s
3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost, the same engine as the Ford F-150 Raptor
and likely producing the same 450 hp and 691 Nm of torque.
