All Lamborghini Huracan models produced from mid-2022 will incorporate a special what3words navigation system. Unlike traditional navigation systems that determine locations based on GPS coordinates, what3words has a simple three word designation that correlates to any location on earth. The startup created the system by dividing the world into 57 trillion, 10-foot squares and assigning three words to each of these squares. For example, usual.trying.highs denotes the best viewpoint of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
The what3words system to be used in new
Lamborghini Huracan models will work offline and be combined with the Alexa
voice assistant that the supercar already uses.
“The future of mobility demands the most
advanced technology, and that is why today Lamborghini is announcing the
roll-out of what3words. Our drivers can experience the most seamless way to
navigate by voice,” head of connectivity at Lamborghini, Luca Giardino, said in
a statement.
Mercedes-Benz became the first automaker
to use the navigation system back in 2018. The company’s technology has also
been adopted by the likes of Tata Motors, Lotus, Ford, Addison Lee, Hermes, and
Cabify.
