Skoda has officially confirmed the debut of the facelifted Karoq for November 30. With more than half a million units produced since 2017, the Karoq is currently Skoda’s most popular SUV and the second most popular model behind the Octavia.
The Skoda Karoq was introduced in 2017 and
despite some equipment updates in 2019, it was time for a more comprehensive
facelift in order to better compete in the crowded C-SUV segment. In the
current range, the Karoq bridges the gap between the smaller Kamiq and the
larger Kodiaq. The facelifted version made its spy debut last year and is now
ready for its digital premiere.
Judging from the updates on the 2021 Skoda
Kodiaq and from the spy pictures, the Karoq will likely take a safe path with
subtle visual tweaks focused on the front bumper and the LED lighting units.
Most importantly it will benefit from more tech inside the cabin including the
latest infotainment and ADAS features. The model will most likely retain the
normal, Sportline, and Scout variants.
In terms of powertrains, we expect a
mildly updated range including the 1.0-liter, 1.5-liter, and 2.0-liter TSI
gasoline motors, alongside the 2.0-liter TDI diesel combined with either a
six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and optional
all-wheel drive. As a reminder, the Skoda Karoq is based on the VW Group’s MQB
platform and is a sibling to the SEAT Ateca which was facelifted last year.
As with its predecessor, Skoda will keep
producing the facelifted Karoq in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia, and
China.
