Last week, Skoda announced that the facelifted Karoq will be unveiled on November 30, and now the Czech automaker strikes back with a set of sketches previewing the design changes. Slotting between the smaller Kamiq and the larger Kodiaq, the Karoq debuted in 2017, with the rather restrained styling showing its age next to more modern C-SUV rivals. The facelifted model wants to become more recognizable, with the changes mostly focused on the front and rear fascias.
In the freshly released official sketches,
the Karoq’s dual LED headlights appear to have a more angular shape and new
graphics, the new hexagonal grille looks very similar to the one on the
recently facelifted Kodiaq, while the bumper has been updated accordingly with
slightly different intakes. The profile will likely remain identical with the
exception of the new wheel designs and possibly different fender add-ons. At
the back, Skoda is highlighting the slimmer taillights with LED graphics, a
longer rear spoiler, and minor changes on the rear bumper.
What we see here is probably the Sportline
variant, which is the more aggressive-looking member of the Karoq’s range,
which also includes the more adventurous Scout and the regular model. Skoda
didn’t release any sketches for the interior, where we expect the latest
infotainment and safety tech of the VW Group, following the equipment updates
from 2019.
The MQB-based C-SUV, which is closely
related to the SEAT Ateca, will likely gain a mildly updated engine range
including TSI and TDI motors, manual or dual-clutch automotive gearbox plus
optional all-wheel-drive. Like its predecessor, the updated Karoq will be
produced in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia, and China. The official debut
of the 2022 Skoda Karoq will take place on November 30.
