The official online configurator for the 2022 Toyota Tundra has just been launched, a couple of months after the new pickup was unveiled. Once you’ve plugged in a U.S. zip code to the configurator, you can choose between five different grades for the Tundra, namely the SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, and the 1794. Interestingly, the configurator doesn’t include the TRD Pro variant.
To create our ideal Tundra, we of course
picked the range-topping 1794 grade that starts at US$ 57,690 and is available in
CrewMax guise with a 5.5- or 6.5-foot bed. You can then select your powertrain
but there is not yet an option for the i-Force Max hybrid, meaning the only
available engine is the ‘standard’ i-Force twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 paired
with either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.
A number of different colors are available
depending on the grade you select. For the 1794, there are eight exterior paint
options. We have gone for Supersonic Red (a US$ 425 option), although the colors of
Blueprint and Smoked Mesquite also look quite nice. Two interior color options
are offered, namely Saddle Tan leather and Rich Cream leather.
Various packages are offered. Perhaps the
most tempting is the TRD Off-Road Package, priced at US$ 2,410 and adding 20-inch
TRD wheels with all-terrain tires, a TRD grille, TRD decals, skid plates,
Bilstein shocks, a red TRD engine start button, TRD leather shift knob,
aluminum sport pedals, electronically locking rear differential, and
Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control, and Downhill Assist Control functions to
help when off-roading. The Tundra’s configurator also allows you to choose
between 31 different accessories. These include everything from alloy wheel
locks to a bed extender, bed step, cargo net, carpet floor mats, deck rail
camera mount, dual step running boards, and a hard tonneau cover.
