Winter is right around the corner and that means automakers are gearing up for another season of cold weather testing. The latest model to make the trek north was the facelifted Mercedes A-Class, which was recently spotted in Scandinavia near the company’s proving grounds. While the camouflage does a good job of hiding the updates, we can see a lightly revised grille with a new mesh pattern. The disguise also suggests we can expect modified bumpers and updated lighting units.
Spy photographers haven’t gotten a good
look inside but, judging by the exterior, changes will likely be minor. That
remains to be seen, but we wouldn’t be surprised to find the usual trim and
upholstery changes as well as some updates to the infotainment system.
One of the biggest unknowns is the engine
lineup, but Mercedes currently offers a bewildering assortment of options.
Petrol choices include a 2.0-liter with 221 hp as well as a
1.3-liter with outputs of 108 hp, 134 hp,
and 161 hp. On the diesel side, there’s a 2.0-liter unit with
outputs of 114 hp, 148 hp, and 187 hp. Of course, there are also AMG variants and a plug-in hybrid
model.
The facelifted Mercedes A-Class is
expected to be introduced next year and the updated sedan should arrive in
America for the 2023 model year.
