Chery has shared some photos of its upcoming Jetour-branded SUV internally called the X-1, asking potential buyers to think of a better-sounding name before January 1, 2022. According to AutoHome, the company will then make a poll out of the most popular name suggestions and let its fans decide which one it will be. Current suggestions include – among others – ‘Falcon’, ‘Flying Armor’, ‘Jade Emperor’, ‘Mechanic’, and ‘Tuna’.

The car itself sports a rather futuristic exterior with an integrated grille, sculpted sides, Y-shaped taillights, a floating top, a prominent rear diffuser, and two-tier headlights with slim DRLs and large main units.

Technical parameters remain to be revealed. The crossover uses Chery’s latest platform called Kunlun. As such, as soon as it goes in production, it will be available with SAE Level 3 self-driving tech and an opportunity to upgrade to Level 5 in the future. Modern infotainment technologies are also high on the list of priorities.

Rumor has it the off-roader will make use of a high-performance hybrid powertrain. Sales will begin in 2022.
