When Farizon Auto, a constituent part of Geely Automotive, announced a livable semi concept named the Homtruck (‘home+truck’), many of us dismissed it as pure fantasy. Apparently, this is not the case.
In a six-minute video posted by Geely, the
company’s PR director Ashley Sutcliffe makes a tour of the cabin of a prototype
truck. In particular, he shows a washing machine hidden behind a latch on the
left side and a whole modular kitchen on the left side, complete with a
slide-out table, an induction cooker, a faucet and a set of tableware.
The cabin comes equipped with a
fingerprint scanner and a couple of giant displays on the dashboard, as well as
a smaller one in the middle of the steering wheel. There is a folding table to
the right of the driver and a bathroom with a WC behind the driver’s seat. Finally,
an expansive panoramic roof is provided for an overview of a starry sky for
those sleeping at the roadside.
Pre-orders are already running, but
production will not begin until at least three years later. Farizon promises to
deliver an electric version capable of up to 1,100 km of range, a
range-extender hybrid, and a methanol version. Prices are not discussed at this
point.
