Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 has received rave reviews and the company is looking to build on that success with the upcoming Ioniq 6. Recently spied on the streets of Germany, the Ioniq 6 was previewed by the Prophecy concept and is a dramatic electric vehicle designed to turn heads. While the prototype is heavily disguised, it features a curvaceous front bumper and headlights inspired by the concept. However, the latter are no longer recessed and only feature a dot matrix design for the daytime running lights.

A-pillar as the Ioniq 6 has a rakish windscreen that flows into a sloping roof.
Designers also gave the model a curved beltline, a compact greenhouse, and
aerodynamic wheels. This particular prototype also sports conventional side
mirrors, although previous models have been spotted with digital ones.
That brings us to the heavily camouflaged
rear end, which features bulky padding to help disguise its shape. However,
it’s not very effective as we can see the outline of an apparent spoiler with
an integrated rearview camera. Further below are slender taillights, which have
a dot matrix pattern inspired by the concept.
Hyundai revealed initial specifications
for the Ioniq 6 last year as the company said the model will ride on the E-GMP
platform and feature a 73 kWh battery pack that is targeted to deliver a range
in excess of 483 km. The automaker also revealed plans for two
powertrains, including an entry-level variant with a single electric motor
developing 215 hp. Customers looking for more power will be
able to opt for a dual-motor variant with a combined output of 308 hp.
When the model is introduced later this
year, it will serve as a replacement for the original Ioniq and be roughly the
same size as the Sonata.
