Aston Martin seems to enjoy teasing us with short videos lately. After the Vantage V12, the British automaker has teased a new and more powerful variant of the DBX SUV that is set to become “The world’s most powerful luxury SUV”. The short clip, titled “Change is Coming” shows parts of the rims, the bodywork, and the interior while giving us a taste of the SUV’s glorious exhaust sound. More importantly, it gives us a release date for the new variant which will be fully unveiled on February 1, 2022.
The description of the video states:
“Change is coming. Power talks.” which is preparing us for increased power
output. The stock Aston Martin DBX is fitted with the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8
from Mercedes-AMG that is producing 542 hp and 700
Nm of torque, while there is also a version with a turbocharged mild-hybrid
3.0-liter inline-six available in China. Camouflaged prototypes of the rumored
DBX S have been spied testing at the Nürburgring with a slightly redesigned
bodykit and quad tailpipes, alongside rumors for its powertrain. While Aston
Martin could use a more powerful version of the AMG-sourced V8, it is also
rumored that the DBX could get the twin-turbo 5.2-liter V12 that produces 715
hp in the DBS Superleggera.
Such a move would further differentiate
the DBX from its rivals, as the only other SUVs fitted with twelve-cylinder
engines are the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, and the Bentley Bentayga Speed. However,
it’s understood that chances are slim for a V12 to find its place under the
bonnet of the DBX, with Aston Martin expected to use a more powerful version of
the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8.
We expect to learn more about Aston
Martin’s upcoming performance-focused SUV in the coming weeks since we might be
blessed with another teaser.
