The mighty BMW V12 is going away and the automaker expects to produce its last examples this summer. To celebrate the 35-year history of the brand’s relationship with the engine layout, it’s producing a limited final run of 7-Series for the U.S. Based on the BMW M760i xDrive, the “Final V12” cars will be limited to just 12 examples for the US market, each one priced from $200,000, plus destination fees. These will be distinguished by unique badging, wheels, and a wide variety of customization options.
Power will of course come from BMW’s
6.6-liter V12 that features two mono-scroll turbochargers, infinitely variable
valve control, and makes 601 hp between 5,500-6,500 rpm. It
sends that power to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
BMW claims a 0-96 km/h time in just 3.6 seconds.
The exterior of the vehicle will be marked
by bold V12 badging at the rear and special 20-inch Style 760M double-spoke
alloy wheels that are painted either Window Grey or Jet Black, then burnished
to reveal a dark silver surface highlight. Customers can also choose between
blue or black brake calipers and any BMW Individual paint color they like. The
door sills are inscribed with “THE FINAL V12” as is a plate on the engine
cover. Inside, BMW Individual Piano Black Finish trim can be seen all over the
cabin and the center console features a plaque commemorating the vehicle as “1
OF 12.”
Offered only as a fully loaded model, the
M760i Final V12 will get BMW’s Driving Assistance Professional Package, the
Luxury Rear Seating Package, a panoramic LED roof, adaptive LED headlights with
Laserlight, and a sound system from Bowers & Wilkins. Customers will be
given the choice of one of eight interior colors for the Full Merino leather
upholstery. Each car will be accompanied by a special trophy as well, designed
to be put on the owners’ desks that commemorates their vehicles and recognizes
the paint, leather, and vehicle identification number of the car they ordered.
BMW says it will start reaching out to
clients who “over the years have shown their enduring passion for the ultimate
luxury sports sedan” and have a long history of buying V12 7-Series with an
invitation to buy the vehicle. Production is set to start in June 2022 with
deliveries expected in July.
