Spring is right around the corner, but that hasn’t stopped Hyundai from getting in some cold weather testing for the redesigned Accent / Verna. Snapped wearing heavy camouflage, the sedan will apparently follow in the footsteps of the larger Elantra. Details are hard to make out, but the prototype appears to have a wide grille that flows into relatively low headlights. We can also see what appears to be an angular front bumper, but the camouflage does a good job of hiding its design.
The car’s profile is a bit more revealing as we can see streamlined bodywork and a prominent character line. The model also sports an upward sweeping beltline and a C-pillar treatment reminiscent of the Elantra. While the rear end is heavily disguised, we can see the Accent will have wraparound taillights and an angular trunk lid. That being said, the design appears far less aggressive than its larger counterpart.
Little is known about the model at this point, but rumors have suggested the car could be equipped with 1.5-liter petrol and diesel options with mild-hybrid technology in certain markets. Speaking of which, it remains unclear if the Accent will continue to be offered in the United States.
