AC Schnitzer expanded its range of tuned BMW M models with the addition of the M4 Convertible. The two-door sportscar with the retractable soft top benefits from the visual modifications already introduced in its coupe and sedan sibling, alongside power and handling upgrades. Starting with the exterior, AC Schnitzer’s M4 Convertible gets a more pronounced front splitter, aerodynamic canards, and hood scoop accents from carbon fiber, which add to the aggression of the design. The profile is dominated by the 20-inch AC3 forged anthracite wheels, with the more traditional five-spoke AC1 design also available. Owners can add AC Schnitzer decals on the body, with a protective film for the carbon-fiber side sills and optional side gills.
At the back, the tuner is offering a
carbon fiber lip spoiler and a fixed rear wing for the M4 Coupe which in theory
will be compatible with the Convertible. However, the latter looks better
without any wings, leaving the quad exhaust pipes and the diffuser as the only
visual changes. Options for the interior include aluminum pedals, paddle
shifters, a cover for the i-Drive controller, and a key holder.
AC Schnitzer didn’t limit itself on the
looks, offering a new set of springs that can lower the front end by 25-30 mm and the rear end by 20-25 mm. There is
also the option of the RS adjustable suspension with adjustments in height,
bump and rebound. As for the twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, it can produce
up to 602 hp and 750 Nm of torque thanks to
modifications in the ECU software and the new exhaust. By comparison, the stock
M4 Convertible produces up to 503 hp and 650 Nm of torque in the Competition variant.
The BMW M4 Convertible was revealed in May
2021, following the debut of the M3 sedan and the M4 Coupe in September 2020.
