Today, McLaren is putting the emphasis on the first three letters of its hybrid supercar, the Artura. With the help of abstract artist Nat Bowen, it has created a vibrant, multi-colored art car based on its latest model. The creation is an exploration of “Chromology,” which represents the psychology behind colors. The rainbowy Artura also explores the themes of “Art” and “Future,” according to McLaren.
The design was accomplished using
translucent resin pigments that adapt to the light to reflect and absorb the
work’s surroundings. These result in the car and the colors becoming a part of
the space they inhabit. The McLaren Artura is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo
V6 and an electric motor with a combined output of 671 hp. It’s also capable of
going 30 km on electric power alone and can achieve up to 50 mpg
(4.7 L/100 km).
The Artura art car will be on display at
Bowen’s solo exhibition at the ME Dubai hotel between February 24 and March 31.
