Ford Bronco Raptor fans are in for some good news as CEO Jim Farley has revealed the highly anticipated model is more powerful than originally estimated. While the automaker had projected the SUV’s twin-turbo 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 would produce more than 400 hp, it’s officially rated at 418 hp and 596 Nm of torque.
To put those numbers into perspective, the
Bronco comes standard with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder developing up to
300 hp and 440 Nm of torque on premium gasoline.
Customers can also upgrade to a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, which churns out 330 hp and 562 Nm of torque on premium. As a result, the
Bronco Raptor has an 88 hp and 33 Nm advantage over
the 2.7-liter V6.
While more power is always welcome, the
Bronco Raptor pales in comparison to the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392. It features
a massive 6.4-liter V8 engine with 470 hp and 637
Nm of torque. That gives it a sizable 52 hp and 41
Nm advantage over the bucking Bronco.
That being said, the Bronco Raptor is more
than just a twin-turbo engine. Designed to appeal to hardcore off-road enthusiasts,
the range-topping model features a reinforced structure, beefier axles, an
upgraded transfer case, and a thoroughly revised suspension. The model also
rides on 37-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires and has 333 mm of ground clearance.
