Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the all-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class in India ahead of its launch on May 10. The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class is in its fifth generation and the bookings for the sedan is already underway in the country. Moreover, bookings for the upcoming 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is already open and first time Mercedes-Benz customers can directly book the upcoming 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class by paying an amount of Rs 50,000.
In addition to that, Mercedes-Benz India
has already commenced the production of the 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan at
its Chakan manufacturing plant in Pune. Recently, the German automaker also
rolled out the first unit of the 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class from its
above-mentioned manufacturing plant. Speaking about the Mercedes-Benz C-Class,
the 5th generation of this German sedan made its global debut in 2021 and the
German automaker claims that the upcoming fifth-generation C-Class sedan is the
most advanced version of the sedan to date, and the model is approximately 65mm
longer and 10mm wider than the current-generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan.
In addition to that, the wheelbase of the
new generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class is also longer as the wheelbase now stands
at 2,865mm. Thanks to its larger exterior dimension, the boot of the new
Mercedes-Benz C-Class has grown by almost 30-litres. When launched, the new
2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class will be offered with three engine options. Moreover,
all these engine options also sport a 48V belt-integrated starter generator.
This system is capable of producing 19.7 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. The
entry-level model of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz C-Class is the C200. This
version comes powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 201.5 bhp
of peak power and 300 Nm of peak torque.
On the other hand, the C200d is the diesel
version of the upcoming 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class and this model uses a larger
2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine. Moreover, this engine produces a healthy
198 bhp of peak power and 400 Nm of peak torque. The C300d variant of the
upcoming Mercedes-Benz C-Class is the most powerful variant and this variant
comes powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine with more than 262 bhp
of peak power and 550 Nm of peak torque. All three engines come mated to a
9-speed automatic gearbox as standard and Mercedes-Benz claims a fuel
efficiency figure of 16.9 km/l for the C200 variant, and 23 km/l for the C200d
variant.
In terms of performance, Mercedes-Benz
claims a 0-100 km/h timing of just 7.3 seconds for the C200 and C200d variants,
whereas the same feat can be achieved by the C300d in just 5.7 seconds.
Moreover, the C200 and C200d variants are available in the Avantgarde line,
whereas the more powerful C300d variant comes in a sportier AMG-line. In terms
of colour options, the upcoming Mercedes-Benz C-Class comes in 6 exterior
colour options - Salatine Grey, Mojave Silver, High-tech Silver, Manufaktur
Opalite White, Cavansite Blue and Obsidian Black.
However, the more powerful Mercedes-Benz
C-Class C300d comes with just 3 colour options - Manufaktur Opalite White,
Cavansite Blue and Obsidian Black. In terms of design, elements such as the
front grille, headlights, tail lamps, front and rear bumpers are in line with
the design of other updated Mercedes-Benz cars in India. Whereas the interior
design is very much in-line with the design of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class with
its two large screens - a large 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a
larger 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
