Toyota has released new photos of their Corolla Commercial cargo van, which is based on the Corolla Touring Sports wagon. Differentiating the Commercial from the passenger version is the fact that the rear seats have been removed in favor of a 1.326-cubic-meter, flat-floor cargo area with a durable rubber lining. The wagon also has a steel partition between the cargo area and passenger compartment to keep items in the rear from interfering with the occupants of the vehicle. Additionally, the trunk features a 12V power outlet to plug tools or appliances into.
Buyers can get their Corolla in one of
three colors, Pure White, Eclipse Black, or Silver, and adding the Style Pack
allows for contrasting trim on the bumpers and lower doors in red, black, or
chrome.
Powering the Corolla Commercial is a
hybrid powertrain consisting of a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with electric
assist. It makes a combined 118 hp and 142 Nm torque, which affords the Corolla with a maximum payload capacity of 425 kg, as well as a maximum towing capacity of 750 kg braked and
450 kg unbraked.
With a starting price of £ 26,510
(US$ 33,121), or £ 22,149 (US$ 27,672) excluding VAT, the Corolla Commercial is
cheaper than even the least expensive 1.8L Corolla Touring Sports at £ 27,635
(US$ 34,527), which makes sense given the stripped-out interior. It also comes
with a 3-year/60,000-mile warranty, which provides an additional 12
months/10,000 miles of coverage each time the vehicle gets a scheduled annual
service at an authorized Toyota dealer for up to 10 years/100,000 miles.
