Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating her 70th year on the throne and UK-based automakers have special treats for the occasion. After McLaren unveiled a new paint and Jaguar Land Rover organized a 26-vehicle parade, it is LEVC’s turn to present their “gift”. The maker of the famous London taxi revealed a trio of electric TX models with a platinum wrap that will take part in the celebrations.
The bespoke platinum wrap of the electric
taxi appears to be quite reflective, even though London is not famous for its
sunlight. Besides the shiny chrome-like treatment applied on the entire
bodywork of the TX, the model remains stock. Thus, we shouldn’t expect the
ultra-luxurious layout of the special LEVC TX models tuned by Sutton or
Lorinser, but at least there will be plenty of space for the guests.
The three special LEVC TX won’t be
practicing taxi duties for the general public, since they are reserved for
chauffeuring VIPs to their seats prior to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant.
The event will be held on the Mall in central London this Sunday, June 5, and
will be televised globally. Thousands of performers from the Commonwealth
countries will participate in the show.
The LEVC TX, launched by Chinese automaker
Geely in 2018, is available with fully electric and range-extender plug-in
hybrid powertrain options. Besides the taxi variant that is operating in
various cities including London, Paris, and Tokyo, the TX also comes in light
commercial vehicle flavor while the automaker has also teased a camper van.
