This is the Mini Cooper SE Convertible and while it may look ready for the production line, the car manufacturer notes that it is a one-off that will be showcased at an event in the United States. Marketed as the “world’s only premium convertible with a fully electric drivetrain in the small car segment,” the Cooper SE Convertible is based on the normal Cooper S Convertible, meaning it shares its dimensions and is 3,863 mm long, 1,727 mm wide, has a height of 2,495 mm, and comes with a 2,495 mm wheelbase.
Mini then turned to the Cooper SE for the
convertible’s powertrain. As such, it is powered by an electric motor
delivering 181 hp and driven by a 32.6 kWh battery pack. The British automaker
says it can hit 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds which is a bit slower than the
6.9 seconds needed by the Cooper SE that’s available to shoppers. Mini adds
that it can travel up to 230 km on a single charge. The textile
soft top of the Cooper SE Convertible is fully electric and can be opened and
closed in less than 18 seconds and at speeds of up to 30 km/h.
The one-off model will be shown to the
public at the Mini Takes the States event, a nine-day roadtrip that is currently
running from Burlington, Vermont through to Greenville-Spartanburg in South
Carolina.
Mini has provided no indication as to
whether or not the Cooper SE Convertible will spawn a production model.
