It seems like Citroen is working on the CNG version of its newly-launched C3 premium hatchback. Recently a test mule of the Citroen C3 CNG was caught on camera with heavy camouflage. Though, one can notice its Orange paint scheme. As of now, there is no official information on the same. Even if launched, the CNG version will come with the 1.2L naturally aspirated Puretech petrol engine with the factory-fitted CNG kit. Its power and torque figures could be slightly lower than the gasoline unit. The latter delivers a peak power of 82 bhp and 115 Nm of torque.
The new Citroen hatchback is also available
with a 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor that’s good for 110 bhp and
190 Nm. Both motors are currently available with a 6-speed manual gearbox. If
reports are to be believed, the company will introduce a 6-speed torque
convertor automatic gearbox sourced from Aisin in the second half of 2023. It
will be the first car in its category to offer torque convertor automatic
transmission.
Reports suggest that the Citroen C3 will
be unveiled with electric powertrain by December 2022. The model will come with
the Peugeot e-208’s 50kWh battery pack and an electric motor (136 PS/260 Nm). It
promises a range of up to 362 km in a single charge. The premium hatchback could
also be offered with the multiple battery size options.
Citroen’s new hatchback has been packed
with lots of goodies including a large 10-inch touchscreen with wireless
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital instrument cluster, a four-speaker
sound system, manual air conditioning, front and rear USB charging ports and
more. With respect to safety, the hatch offers dual airbags, seatbelt reminders
and rear parking sensors. Though, it misses out on features such as powered
wing mirror adjustment, rear windscreen wiper and defogger, a day/night IRVM, a
tachometer and a central lock/unlock button for the doors.
