It seems Force Motors is all set to roll out the 5-door Gurkha off-road SUV in India. Recently, the final production-ready version of the SUV was caught on camera in Pune. Painted in military green colour, the 5-door Force Gurkha looks much more grown up than its 3-door version. The spied model was the 13-seater version with a bench seat in the middle row and two side-facing bench seats at the back. The SUV model lineup will also be offered in 4/6 and 9-seats configurations, thanks to its longer wheelbase.
While the exact dimension figures of the
new 5-door Force Gurkha are yet to be revealed, it’s likely to have 400 mm
longer wheelbase than the 3-door Grukha. Its overall width might also be
increased. The 5-door version will have bigger 255/60 R18 tyres shod on 18-inch
alloy wheels. The lower variants are likely to be offered with the smaller
steel wheels.
Design and styling (especially the front
end) of the Force Gurkha 5-door model is exactly similar to its 3-door version.
It features the retro-styled LED DRLs around the headlamps, raised bonnet with
mounted indicators, roof mounted carrier, boot mounted spare wheel, rear washer
wiper, a snorkel and rear ladder.
The LWB Gurkha will use the same 2.6L
turbocharged diesel engine that makes a top power of 90 bhp and 250 Nm of torque.
The range-topping variants will be offered with the 4X4 transfer case with high
and low range ratios. For performing transmission duties, it will have a
5-speed manual gearbox. Features such as mechanically lockable differentials at
the front and rear ensure better traction.
Once launched, the 5-door Force Gurkha
will take directly on the upcoming 5-door Mahindra Thar and Maruti Suzuki
Jimny. Its prices are expected to be around 1 lakh higher than its 3-door
version that costs Rs 14.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
