Mazda has brought a new full-size crossover CX-90 to the tests, which will become the flagship of the brand and replace the CX-9 in the model range. It will not only be the largest in the line, but also the most expensive, and the main market for the model will be the USA. It is known that the basis of the novelty will be a new rear-wheel drive platform with a longitudinal motor arrangement, familiar to the CX-60 SUV. The CX-90 will also inherit exterior design elements from the latter.
The CX-90 is positioned as a direct
successor to the CX-9 in the US market. In the spy shots published by Fast Line
Car, the crossover is captured in dense camouflage, but you can see the
taillights in the style of the co-platform CX-60. Drive notes that the photos
were taken in one of the districts of Los Angeles and draws attention to the
large rear overhang – this is confirmation of the information that appeared
earlier that the model will have three rows of seats.
Mazda has big plans to launch new models.
So, Europe is promised the CX-60 and CX-80, and in the USA there will be
crossovers CX-70 and CX-90, as well as the compact CX-50. A hybrid Mazda MX-30
with a rotary engine is also claimed, which is part of the power plant and
serves as a generator for recharging the battery.
