VGV, a subsidiary of truck manufacturing company Sinotruck, has started selling its VX7 VIP pickup in China. The newcomer comes based on the same tech as the marque’s U75 Plus off-roader and combines a premium cabin with a novel exterior. The only trim version available right now costs 152,800 Yuan.

The truck boasts an aggressive bumper, a large radiator grille with a massive chrome bar spanning its width, a rear spoiler and a sporty profile. Rather than slapping the VX7 VIP with its usual ‘commercial transports’ sticker, VGV advertises it as a vehicle for adventure and recreation, which should also explain the rather impractical-looking short bed.

Cabin highlights include imitation leather trim, digital dash gauges, a large head unit and a touch-sensitive HVAC panel. Rear parking sensors and adaptive cruise control are also on board. Coming in at 5,015 mm long, 1,870 mm wide and 1,732 mm tall with 2.8 meters between the axles, the VX7 VIP is marginally smaller than the Toyota Hilux. The company highlights that the bed is rated for 330 kilograms of nominal load and that two storage boxes can be found under the floor of the cabin.

Powering the truck is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 224 PS and 385 Nm of torque. An eight-speed auto transmission driving the front axle takes it to a top speed of 196 km/h.
