The new Honda Civic Type R TCR will make its racing debut in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Honda Performance Development (HPD) has teased the Civic Type R TCR race car it is developing alongside JAS Motorsports. Much like the new road car, the new Civic Type R TCR benefits from an overhauled exterior design that incorporates new parts to increase downforce, the most obvious being the fitment of a towering rear wing. The TCR racer also features a modified version of the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder from the road-going Civic Type R.
A multitude of other changes have been
made to the hot hatch, including the fitment of upgraded braking and
transmission systems. HPD and JAS Motorsports have also revised the interior
and fitted a new multi-channel driver display that displays more information in
real time. A revised ‘quick fill’ fueling system is also present, as is
additional lighting, driver cooling, and anti-lock brakes.
The new Honda Civic Type R TCR will make
its racing debut in April with partner teams HART, LA Honda World, and VGRT in
the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. Complete driver line-ups have not yet been
announced but we know that LA Honda World will field two cars that include Ryan
Eversley and Matt Pombo as one of the driver pairings.
