Peugeot confirmed today that it will unveil the Inception Concept, its vision for the future of automotive design in an electric era, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) early next year. The veil will come off the new concept car on Thursday, January 5, 2023. While the Las Vegas show may seem like an odd choice of location for a French company that does not sell any vehicles in the United States to unveil a concept, Peugeot points out that the show is the world’s largest that is dedicated entirely to new technologies and innovations.
The Peugeot Inception Concept was first
announced at the Paris Motor Show in October 2022 and is designed to show off
the automaker’s next generation of electric vehicles. The concept will take
advantage of its “BEV-by-design” platform to “turn the entire automotive
experience upside down.” In less lofty terms, this suggests that the Inception
Concept will show off Peugeot’s take on the STLA architecture, which was
announced last year by its parent company, Stellantis.
The electric-only platform will be capable
of underpinning electric vehicles with ranges of up to 800 km. With
four sizes to choose from (small city cars, premium vehicles, AWD performance
vehicles, commercial vehicles and trucks), power outputs will vary wildly. The
platform will accept a number of electric powertrains that can deliver anywhere
from 168 hp to 885 hp depending on the
application. Peugeot says, though, that this concept will also transform its
design language for the future and will introduce a new interior concept. The
next generation of the i-Cockpit will reinterpret “driving gestures” and create
“new digital and physical experiences.”
The concept is likely to be an important
one for the brand because Peugeot is planning on introducing five new electric
vehicles in the coming two years. It expects to have an electric version of
every one of its vehicles by 2025 and to go all-electric by 2030. Check back in
with us on January 5 to read about all the highlights and important innovations
that the Peugeot Inception Concept will introduce.
