Exeed has begun road tests of a hybrid version of the Yaoguang SUV, Autohome reports along with publishing spy shots showing a partly disguised prototype. Given how slim the camo is, it appears that the electrified ride will look barely different from its ICE cousin. Slight aesthetic changes at the front and the rear will probably sum it all up. Such features as slanted roof, rear spoiler, pull-out door handles, brake lights connected through a tailgate LED strip and quad exhaust tips may stay completely unchanged. As for the charging port, you can see it at the rear left fender.
The interior layout with its massive
two-tier center console between the seats should also remain as is. The head
unit combining the dash gauges and the infotainment screen looks different,
though, and sports a rectangular shroud instead of the former trapezoid one.
It is unclear what will be available in
terms of the powertrain. The ICE-powered SUV debuted in October last year and shipped the following month. Inspired by the AtlantiX Concet, it
packed a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo rated at 261 PS and
400 Nm in tandem with an eight-speed automatic transmission driving
all four wheels. Customers in China could select from five trim levels ranging
in price from 170,000 to 220,000 CNY (US$ 25,400–32,800).
