To say that the development of the Mercedes-AMG One took far longer than anyone had expected would be a massive understatement but last year, the first example was delivered to a customer and this is our first chance to see it. Mercedes-AMG shared these images itself to Facebook, noting that handing over the keys to the first AMG One to its customer was one of the carmaker’s highlights of 2022.
Very few details have been given about
this particular example, so we’re not sure what options it has nor what its
interior looks like. What we can see is that it has been finished in a
high-gloss shade of metallic black supplemented with silver three-pointed star
logos across the rear half. It also has various Petronas green accents, including
on the wheels, front fascia, and stripes running along the doors.
While the AMG One is a German hypercar,
each of the 275 examples bound for the production line is actually hand-built
at a special facility in Coventry, UK. The engines are also hot tested at the
Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains facility in Brixmorth which is the
same site where the company builds its Formula 1 powertrains.
As a refresher, the car’s powertrain
consists of a 1.6-liter four-cylinder with an electric turbocharger that has
direct injection, port injection, revs to 11,000 rpm and is derived from the
company’s Formula 1 race car. The hypercar also sports an electric motor on the
crankshaft with 161 hp, another integrated into the turbocharger with 121 hp,
and a pair of electric motors on the front axle that combine to deliver some
322 hp.
