The Cadillac CT6 might have ceased production in the US in 2020, but the flagship sedan just got a new generation in China, where demand for this segment remains strong. The 2024 CT6 brings sharper styling inspired by Cadillac’s Escala Concept, enhanced luxury, and more technology inside the cabin. We had already seen the new CT6 in photos from China’s MIIT since November 2022 but the model officially debuted today, providing us with the full details on specs and pricing. Judging from the similar footprint and proportions, the new generation is based on an upgraded version of the GM Omega RWD underpinnings. More specifically, the 2024 Cadillac CT6 measures 5,223 mm long and has a wheelbase of 3,109 mm which is identical to its predecessor.
The aluminum bodywork of the CT6 adopts
styling cues inspired by the 2016 Cadillac Escala concept. The biggest change
can be found at the front, where a massive grille is flanked by slim DRLs, with
the actual vertically-stacked LED headlights mounted on the bumper’s faux
intakes. GM designers opted for sleeker surfacing and a more aerodynamic
roofline, leading to a familiar rear end with slimmer L-shaped taillights, dual
tailpipes, and a spoiler integrated into the tailgate.
The cabin of the new CT6 boasts several
noteworthy features. One of its standout elements is the standard 33-inch
curved display, which offers an impressive 9K resolution and showcases a wide
range of 1 billion colors. This advanced display is powered by the 8155
Qualcomm chip and supports 5G connectivity to ensure seamless access to a
variety of features and services. The luxurious ambiance inside the cabin draws
inspiration from yachts, further accentuated by Fina Nappa leather upholstery.
The high-quality materials, including cork wood veneer, contribute to the
refined aesthetics of the interior. Additional touches can be found in the
crystal diamond knob and the customizable 26-color ambient lighting, allowing
drivers to create their preferred atmosphere within the vehicle.
Cadillac calls the rear seats a
“multi-functional American-style large sofa” with heating and ventilation. The
AKG 19-speaker audio system ensures top-notch quality for your music tracks,
while a special noise cancellation system allows quiet conversations while on
the go. Finally, the optional Super Cruise ADAS suite adds sophisticated
semi-autonomous functionality. The CT6 offers a range of color options,
including the existing Alaska White, Obsidian Black, and Crystal Gray. In
addition to these choices, Cadillac has introduced two new colors to the
palette: Manhattan Gray and Interstellar Blue. Inside the vehicle, three
distinct interior themes are available: The Night Rider, Whispers at Twilight,
and The Phantom of the Opera.
Just like its predecessor, the 2024
Cadillac CT6 is motivated by a non-electrified turbocharged 2.0-liter engine
producing 233 hp, which is produced in China by the SAIC-GM
joint venture. Power is transmitted exclusively to the rear wheels through a
10-speed automatic gearbox. The new model features the upgraded version 4.0 of
the MRC magnetic suspension, offering 45% quicker damping response with
independent sensors and control units for each of the four wheels scanning the
road 1,000 times per second. Finally, Brembo brakes take care of stopping, with
four-piston calipers. Pricing for the Chinese-spec Cadillac CT6 starts from
¥ 359,700 (US$ 50,830) to ¥ 469,700 (US$ 66,374) depending on the trim level. The
higher-spec versions can also be equipped with the optional Super Cruise for an
extra ¥ 20,000 (US$ 2,826). Furthermore, owners of the outgoing CT6 will get a
discount of ¥ 30,000 (US$ 4,239) if they wish to upgrade to the new generation.
Besides the new CT6 sedan, Cadillac
introduced the XT4 and GT4 SUVs in the local market, alongside the Rui Ge which
is the Chinese version of the fully electric Lyriq.
