Chery-owned sub-brand Jetour has unveiled a new part-electric car in China named the Shanhai L9. Rather than being an independent design, it is essentially just a Jetour X90 Plus with a plug-in hybrid powertrain stuffed in. The car goes on sale with priced just under 200,000 Yuan (US$ 27,400), Car News China reports.

Compared to its ICE version, the Shanhai L9 sports a different front fascia with a triangular pattern in the radiator grille and slimmer headlights. A millimeter-range radar is concealed under the grille. Size-wise, the SUV is 4,862 mm long, 1,925 mm wide and 1,784 mm tall with 2,850 mm between the axles, making it virtually identical to its donor.

Things look different inside the cabin, though. While the X90 has a single widescreen display on the dash, the L9 has two separate screens. The infotainment screen likely also provides the HVAC controls, since they are nowhere to be found. Buyers can choose between five, six or seven seats.

The only powertrain available consists of a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder, an electric motor and a three-speed DHT. The motor produces 156 PS and 220 Nm of torque. The battery stores up to 19.43 kilowatt-hours and yields 84 km of WLTC-rated all-electric driving range. In hybrid mode, the manufacturer-rated fuel consumption is as low as 1.49 liters per 100 km (nearly 158 miles per U.S. gallon).
