The Tank 800 Concept previewed at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show will soon become a mass-produced off-roader, AutoHome reports. According to Ma Dangquan, a representative of the Tank brand, the model number 800 will be a luxurious body-on-frame SUV running on hybrid power. The development is almost finished, and the vehicle will go on sale next year. He declined further comment.
Rumor has it that the Tank 800 shares the
platform and tech with the larger Great Wall pickups, and is roughly 5.5 meters long. If true, this would mean it is bigger than the Toyota Land
Cruiser 300. For the powertrain, the manufacturer will most likely reuse the
Tank 700 hybrid setup. The latter uses a 3.0-liter V6 and a single electric
motor to hit the wheels with 517 PS and 750 Nm of
torque.
