Automaker BYD posted the first photos of its upcoming Yangwang U7 luxury saloon last week, but never revealed any specifications. These have now leaked online through the Chinese Ministry of Industry database. The car is getting four e-motors with 326 PS each, AutoHome reports.
According to the new data, the U7 is sized
5,265 x 1,998 x 1,517 mm with 3,160 mm between the axles. As a result, it is
much larger than the Tesla Model S – roughly 300 mm longer with 200 mm of extra wheelbase. Its curb weight is also impressive at 3,095 kg. Despite that, it can reach a top speed of 270 km/h.
The images submitted so far reveal a
pop-up rear spoiler, multiple brake caliper options and video cameras instead
of side mirrors. As for the powertrain, it corresponds to what BYD had promised
for its other upcoming supercar, the U9 Coupe. That one hits 100 km/h from standstill in two seconds and pumps out 1,300 PS. It
wouldn’t surprise us if the saloon would be slightly power-capped in order to
eliminate internal competition with the U9.
The launch date and pricing remain unknown.
