Ferrari has come up with a new 296 GTB special. Only five units will be made to celebrate the marque’s victory at the Formula 1 season of 2002, Carscoops reports. 21 years ago, the team dominated the Hungaroring track with Michael Schumacher coming out on top and Rubens Barrichello ranking second. As a result, Scuderia Ferrari won its next Constructors’ Cup – one out of the six cups it won in a row in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Back to the car, though. The new 296 GTB special comes finished in a shade known as Rosso F1 with Bianco King White accents on the front bumper, the roof, the side sills and the tail. Commemorative insriptions adorn the running boards, and the number 1 on the frunk lid symbolizes the victory of Scuderia Ferrari at that F1 season. The headrests inside are embroidered with the outlines of the famous Hungarian racetrack and the country’s flag.

From the technical perspective, the car is a stock Ferrari 296 GTB. That’s hardly a problem, considering that it uses a 3.0-liter V6 in tandem with electric motors to deliver 830 PS to the asphalt. The optional Assetto Fiorano package lowers the curb weight of the car by replacing a number of components with their lighter counterparts.
