Jackery is best-known for making solar generators, but they’ve used CES to introduce an “innovative off-road overlanding home.” The company didn’t say much about it, but the Solar Generator Rooftop Tent features a hard exterior shell which is equipped with a solar panel. The tent also has two 1000W solar wings, which can be deployed to recharge the included 1264Wh power station.
Jackery said the tent system can “provide
up to 6 kWh for one-day overlanding and two-week outdoor life, offering extra
power for extended running time of appliances, such as [a] coffee maker,
electric blanket, projector, mobile phone and more.” The tent also appears to
be able to accommodate two people. Besides the tent, Jackery showed the Solar
Generator Mars Bot. Inspired by the Opportunity rover, the bot is a small
autonomous vehicle that is equipped with a retractable 600W solar wing which
charges an internal battery.
More importantly, the robot can
“intelligently navigate towards areas with strong light for photovoltaic power
generation or charging stations when light conditions are poor.” In effect, if
you’re away from base camp, the Mars Bot could drive around the site to ensure
its battery is recharged when you get back.
The bot has two USB ports and two 120V
household outlets. The company also noted the bot has rugged construction with
excellent weather and corrosion resistance, which makes it ideal for everything
from camping to emergency rescues. While the bot and tent are concepts, the
latter will reportedly be going into production later this year. However, it’s
slated to be slightly different than the tent on display at CES.
