Lexus has announced the wild RZ Sport Concept from last year’s Tokyo Auto Salon has spawned a production model dubbed the RZ450e F Sport Performance that will be capped at just 100 units and hit the market in March. The production model looks virtually identical to the concept and more closely resembles what an aftermarket tuner may do to transform the RZ, not Lexus itself. The alterations kick off with a thoroughly revised front fascia with a splitter clad in carbon fiber and blue paint as well as a large carbon panel positioned directly below the headlights.
As with lesser versions of the RZ, the
hood is finished in a contrasting shade of gloss black but unlike all other
models, this hood sports a pair of carbon fiber air outlets to keep everything
nice and cool. No stone has been left unturned in tweaking the sides of the EV
either as flared arches are featured at both the front and rear. These are no
ordinary flared arches either and include aerodynamic winglets made from carbon
fiber. Sitting beneath these arches are 21-inch Enkei aluminum wheels painted
matte black that look a little more stylish than the wheels of the concept.
Lexus has also gone to the expense of
equipping the RZ450e F Sport Performance with a carbon fiber roof while
painting the sides of the roof in black with a pronounced blue accent. Things
get particularly dramatic at the rear where you will find a pair of fixed,
carbon fiber wings that look like they’ve been lifted from a SEMA creation. The
SUV also has a carbon fiber lip spoiler, because you can never have too many
spoilers, right? Completing the exterior changes made is a new rear bumper clad
in black and complete with a carbon fiber diffuser.
Various special touches have been made to
the cabin. These include a new ultra suede material on the seats, black and
blue contrasting stitching, a synthetic leather steering wheel, an instrument
panel with blue accents, F Sport Performance scuff plates, and aluminum sports
pedals. The RZ450e F Sport Performance is powered by the same 71.4 kWh battery
pack as the standard model, driving a 150 kW front electric motor and an 80 kW
rear electric motor. Japanese pricing has been set at 11,800,000 yen.
