Haval has posted some photos of its next-generation H9 SUV running tests clad in camo. You can still discern the main differences. According to AutoHome, the production is set to begin this spring, and customers will be able to choose between a petrol and a diesel engine.

In this official mini-gallery, the new H9 can be seen climbing sand dunes and hills and forging through a badly eroded dirt road. There is no mistaking an updated exterior: body outlines, a large vertical radiator grille, round LED headlamps, and emphasized fender flares.

The roof is nearly level with the ground, and there is a squared-off luggage box on the tailgate. On the whole, the pre-production example looks much like the prototype car spotted by car spies in China before. Overall, the next-gen H9 looks like a downsized Haval Raptor.

According to the latest reports, the off-roader will go on sale with a 2.0-liter petrol turbo engine and a 2.4-liter diesel one, as well as a choice between two automatic transmissions: 8-speed and 9-speed. Later on, Haval may release a hybrid version of it rated close to 300 horsepower.

More info should become available in spring when the production starts.
