Chinese EV maker Xpeng has launched its first-ever van on the domestic market. Called the X9, it starts from 359,800 Yuan – a cool 28,200 Yuan less than the early estimate given by the company for the pre-order period. Buyers have made 30,000 pre-orders over the past six weeks, Car News China reports. The X9 originally debuted at the Guangzhou Motor Show last November. It rides on SEPA2.0 platform and is 5,293 mm long, 1,988 mm wide and 1,785 mm tall with 3,160 mm between the axles. The drag ratio is a low 0.227. There are seven seats inside, arranged 2+2+3 front to back.
In its most basic trim, the van makes use
of air suspension and four-wheel steering. A sole electric motor drives the
front axle with 320 PS. Its dual-motor counterpart outputs
503 PS to both axles, sprints 0-100 km/h in 5.7
seconds, and can reach 200 km/h in a straight line.
There are two battery sizes to choose from
– 84.5 and 101.5 kWh. The former is good for 610 km of range and
the latter maxes out at 702 km in the single-motor spec. An
800-volt charging station replenishes enough power for 300 km of
driving in 10 minutes.
A peek inside reveals two standalone
displays and a nearly complete absence of hardware controls. The second-row
seats offer a feature called Zero Gravity for maximum relaxation, along with a
multitude of power adjustments and pull-out footrests. A 21.4-inch display is
mounted at the ceiling, and there is a fridge hidden in the center console that
can support temperatures from 0 to minus 50ºC.
The rear bench seat can be folded down to
maximize the trunk space (2,554 liters).
