Lexus introduced the 2025 UX 300h last year and now the company has announced pricing will begin at US$ 37,490. That’s a US$ 1,000 increase compared to the outgoing UX 250h, which started at US$ 36,490. While the price increase is small, the crossover has big improvements including a fifth-generation hybrid system. It has more powerful electric motors and this results in an increased output of 196 hp, which is 15 hp more than its predecessor. Besides being more powerful, the nickel-metal hydride battery has been replaced by a new lithium-ion battery. The crossover also adopts new shift-by-wire technology for a “quicker and more seamless shifting experience.”
Thanks to the various upgrades, the UX
300h accelerates from 0-96 km/h in 8.0 seconds and this is 0.4 seconds faster
than its predecessor. The model is also slated to have a combined fuel economy
rating of 43 mpg, which would be 1 mpg more than the 250h. The changes extend
beyond the powertrain as the UX offers a new Copper Crest paint job. Inside, there’s
new chrome accents and updated switchgear. Premium and F Sport variants have a
larger 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, while the F Sport Handling gains a
power liftgate with a kick sensor.
On the safety front, there’s a new Lexus
Safety System+ 3.0 suite of driver assistance systems. It replaces the previous
2.5 system and includes All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing
Assist, and a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection. They’re joined by
Road Sign Assist, Proactive Driving Assist, and Lane Departure Alert with
Steering Assist. While that’s just a brief overview, the entry-level UX has LED
lighting units, aluminum roof rails, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Buyers will also
find a leather-wrapped steering wheel and eight-way power front seats wrapped
in NuLuxe upholstery.
They’re joined by a 7.0-inch
multi-information display as well as an 8-inch infotainment system with
wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Rounding out the highlights are Washi
trim and a dual-zone climate control system.
