Spy photographers have caught the 2026 Audi Q7 on multiple occasions, but now we’re getting our first glimpse at the next-generation SQ7. The high-performance family hauler will go against the hotter versions of the BMW X7 and Mercedes GLS. How hot remains the biggest mystery, but the SQ7 makes its performance known via a sporty four-tailpipe exhaust system. That isn’t the only change as the crossover rides on stylish wheels that are backed up by a beefier braking system.
The rest of the design largely carries
over as we can see a wide grille and an expansive lower intake. They’re joined
by split lighting units and ‘hidden’ door handles that are located along the
base of the greenhouse similar to the Ford Mustang Mach-E. This is interesting
to note as previous Q7 prototypes had more traditional handles.
Spy photographers still haven’t gotten a
good look inside, but the model could follow in the footsteps of the Q6 e-tron.
If that’s the case, we can expect an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, a
14.5-inch infotainment system, and a 10.9-inch front passenger display. The
current SQ7 is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that develops 500 hp and 769 Nm of torque. It’s connected to an eight-speed
automatic transmission and a standard quattro all-wheel drive system. This
setup enables the three-row crossover to accelerate from 0-96 km/h in
four seconds flat and hit a limited top speed of 250 km/h.
It remains unclear if the V8 will continue
to be offered in the model, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the SQ7 goes
hybrid.
