Elfin
Clubman MS8
The Elfin MS8 Clubman
was designed by Elfin Sports Cars and styled by the Holden Design team. This
collaboration between the two Australian companies has been an enthusiastic
exercise, by car enthusiasts, for car enthusiasts.
Track inspired, the MS8
Clubman is the modern incarnation of the original theme which was first
conceived by Elfin founder Garrie Cooper in 1961.
The Elfin MS8 Clubman
features hand laid GRP body panels. Internal paneling is manufactured from high
quality aluminium sheeting, hand riveted and fully sealed to enhance chassis
rigidity.
The Elfin MS8 Clubman
is a powered by an all alloy GM sourced LS1 5.7 litre V8 engine. This unit
develops 328 horsepower and 465 Nm of torque in standard trim. Higher powered
engines can be installed depending on application.
A Tremec T56 MM6 Heavy
duty 6 speed gear box sends the power to the rear wheels.
The Elfin Clubman MS8
features a fully handcrafted, jig assembled space frame utilising over 65
metres of material. Various sizes are used in the construction of the chassis
to obtain an extremely high level of race car design rigidity, to cater for the
transmission of high levels of power/ torque to the rear wheels and to maintain
precise steering geometry. The design process has been extended to using 8620
alloy steel for all solid crush tubes, which are fully extended through the
frame and TIG / MIG welded from suspension pickup points, fuel tank support
mountings to brake pedal mounting points, to obtain a fully race crafted
chassis. Laser cut bracketry to maintain precision on all gussets and hole
sizing.
All body fixing points
on the MS8 Clubman's chassis have nutserts fitted and are TIG welded to obtain
longevity.
After construction the
chassis is fully ground back by hand and dressed for sand blasting, and then
powder coated to 40/50 microns for durability and to obtain a high level of
finish.
