Epic
EV Torq
The
EV Torq is an electric-powered, three wheel sports car from California based
company Epic. Epic are a young company, but they've already produced three
electric vehicles, an ATV, a powerboat, and now a sports car.
For
the moment there aren't too many details on the Epic EV Torq because it's
official unveiling isn't until later in 2010.
It's
powered along by a 200hp electric motor which is fed by 30 kWh lithium iron
phosphate batteries mounted in the center of the vehicle. Weighing in at 1,700
lbs (771 kgs), the EV Torq isn't a featherweight for its size, however due to
the excess weight penalty incurred by the batteries, it isn't that chubby
either.
Epic
have obviously gone for the less-is-more approach to design and engineering.
The exposed chassis is only barely covered along the top to keep some of the
elements at bay. But the interior is completely open. Get caught in a downpour
and you're out of luck. The power looks to be sent to the front wheels,
although as you'd expect all three wheels are involved when it comes to
braking.
The
interior is about as minimalist as it gets. There are two seats, a tiny digital
dash display, two cup holders, and the in-car entertainment system consists of
an i-phone holder.
