Luxgen
Neora
Taiwan's
Luxgen Motors unveiled the neora concept at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show. The
neora (yes that's correct, no capitals) concept is a proposal for a 100-percent
electric powered sedan which is capable of quite surprising performance.
Motivation
for the Luxgen neora comes from a 240-horsepower electric induction motor
supplied by 48 kWh lithium-ion batteries. The front-wheel-drive neora can hit
62 mph (100 km/h) in just 6.5 seconds, and continue on to a 155 mph (250 km/h)
top speed.
Despite
the impressive performance, the neora has a range of 250 miles (400 km), and it
can achieve a state of 80-percent charge after just one hour.
The
Luxgen neora's interior is enhanced by a PDLC (Polymer Dispersed Liquid
Crystal) glass sunroof which can be darkened or lightened depending on how much
sunlight is entering the cabin.
The
rear-seat passengers are treated to their own infotainment system and LED
screen, while the driver is served up essential driving information via a
head-up display. Another 9-inch screen in the center of the dash can exchange
information with other nearby vehicles, and also provide navigation functions.
In
quite what form, or even if the neora will enter production remains to be seen.
However it shows that even fresh-faced, two-year-old manufacturers are keen to
enter the electric car market.
