Triumph
Bonneville T214 Special Edition
The
latest special edition of the Triumph Bonneville commemorates Johnny Allen and
his record breaking 214.40 mph Triumph-powered Texas Ceegar streamliner at the
Bonneville Salt Flats in 1956.
The
new special edition Bonneville T214 is based on the T100 model while featuring
styling that is unique to this edition. The motorcycle is hand painted in
Caspian Blue and Pure White colours and has slight touches of red and white
checker detailing, that mimics the Texas Ceegar. The handlebars, rims and rear
suspension springs are painted in black and the seat gets a unique red
stitching. The motorcycle also gets a re-profiled rear mudguard and deep bowl
headlight that gives the special edition a unique look of its own.
The
Bonneville T214 will have a limited production run of 1,000 units and each bike
will be individually numbered.
The
Texas Ceegar streamliner was a Triumph Thunderbird with a 650 cc engine,
methanol fuelling covered in streamlined bodywork. The machine was conceived
and build by airline pilot J.H. “stormy” Mangham and the Fort Worth Triumph
dealership, and 2001 AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame inductee Jack Wilson.
This
year, Triumph is taking another shot at the land speed record with the new
dual-Rocket III engine powered streamliner that would be piloted by Guy Martin.
The target is to surpass the current land speed record of 376.363 mph.
