Mahindra Halo

Mahindra Reva created a lot of excitement at the 2014 Auto Expo with its array of new electric vehicles. Among the showcased electric vehicle (EV) concepts was the Halo, the 2 door electric vehicle concept that really caught the attention especially of the young visitors with its great styling and technological prowess. Now, it has been revealed that the Mahindra Reva Halo EV will be launched in the car market of the United Kingdom by the year 2016.

When the Indian car market is concerned, the company is carrying out the feasibility study prior to the decision of the launch of Halo. India is certainly still not ripe enough for the EVs, as the car consumers are not inclined to buy them and there are yet no government subsidies in place to promote the sale of the green cars. Even if the company launches the Halo EV in India, as the government subsidies are expected soon enough, it is certain that the Halo’s primary sales numbers will come from international car markets once it is offered on sale in financial year of 2015-16. The price slab of the Halo is also expected to be quite high for the liking of the Indian car consumers and thus the feasibility study is all the more required. The full EV sports car is expected to be tagged between Rs. 30 to 35 lakhs.

The Mahindra Reva Halo is very stylish, compact, contemporary and well proportioned new all electric sports car. The showcase at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo was its first global debut and it received good appreciation from the visitors. The electric Halo comes in 2 model trims, one these models has a range of 200 kilometers on a full charge, while the other has a range of 150 kilometers. The top end model trim of the Halo has the capability to reach a top speed of 160 km per hour.

The Halo EV sports car is fully designed in India by the in-house design team of Mahindra REVA. The EV will pack in a 105 kW battery and is based on a short and rigid chassis that is aerodynamically designed to be performance centric. Halo EV will come with a whole host of world class equipments and safety features and will sport a multi touch screen as well as contoured leather seats apart from an array of safety features.

Prior to the Halo’s launch in England in 2016, Mahindra Reva will first launch its fully electric passenger car, e2o in this October. The launch of Halo in India as mentioned is not yet certain and fully depends on the government policy.
