Fiat
Ducato 4X4 Expedition Camper Show Van
The
Fiat Ducato 4X4 Expedition Camper Show Van has made its UK debut at the 2015
Motorhome and Caravan Show in Birmingham. This van is a collaborative project
with interior outfitters Tecnoform, 4×4 specialist Dangel and Olmedo body
customization.
The
Show Camper Van is built on the Fiat Ducato camper base. The exterior features
a two-tone paint job comprising of light and dark shades of Grey. The
customised camper has a widened track and raised height. Other elements that
add style and functionality are front skid plate, LED daytime running lights,
front winch and roof rack (which can also be used as a platform to sit or walk
on, two and half meters above ground).
Tecnoform
has outfitted the interior and in the process is celebrating its 50th
anniversary with its involement in the customised camper. The interior gets
clean lines, streamlined furniture and high-tech materials that have been
selected to create a lounge-like atmosphere. It is designed to provide a
relaxing space after a hectic day of holidaying. The furniture has an
integrated lighting system while an entertainment system with multiple speakers
and two retractable flat-screen TVs complete the amenities.
A
150 hp 2.3-litre MultiJet II engine powers the Ducato 4×4 Expedition. Fiat says
that the customized camper is eager and agile on the road, yet rugged and
capable when the going gets tough.
Four-wheel
drive expert Dangel has engineered a permanent all-wheel drive system with
viscous coupling for the FIAT Ducato Camper Show Van. Apart from this, they
have raised the ride height and added oversized tyres and special wheels to
give a good off-road capability.
With
this project Fiat Professional has begun to explore the camper van segment
which accounts for 25% of Europe’s motorhome market. This one-off camper is not
expected to enter production.
