2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA (Upgrade)
One
only has to look at the line-up of Mercedes-Benz to understand the soaring
popularity of SUVs and crossovers.
As
a matter of fact, the German marque currently has seven different SUV lines in
its range and on the back of the positive reception of the entry-level GLA,
Mercedes-Benz has updated it in the United States for the 2016 model year.
Kicking
off the updates are a plethora of new components now included as standard. The
most significant new standard features include an overhauled infotainment
system with a large 7-inch display complete with Garmin Map Pilot navigation.
There is also a push-button ignition, dual-zone climate control and a cushion
length adjuster for the seats.
Elsewhere,
the 2016 GLA is now installed with the automaker's Dynamic Select system
allowing drivers to choose between the Comfort, ECO, Sport and Sport+ driving
modes. Dynamic Select replaces the Agility Select system and comes standard
across the GLA range.
As
for new optional extras for 2016 they include a power passenger seat, a
beige/black leather interior finish replacing the grey leather upholstery as
well as the addition of an exterior paint finish dubbed Kryptonite Green
metallic.
In
the United States, buyers of the GLA can choose between an entry-level model
with a 2.0-litre turbo'd four outputting 208 hp and 258 lb-ft or alternatively,
opt for the potent Mercedes-AMG GLA45. That variant has an upgraded 2.0-litre
turbo-four with 355 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque on tap, enabling the compact
crossover to sprint to 60 mph in a mere 4.8 seconds.
