2017 Audi A6
The fourth generation Audi A6 arrived in
2011 and will move to the fifth generation around two years from now. According
to a report from Auto Bild, the fifth generation Audi A6 2017 (codename: Audi
C8) will arrive in Spring 2017 in Germany. The next-gen Audi A6 is said to be
under development alongside the next-gen Audi A7 and next-gen Audi A8.
The all-new A6 will arrive only in
saloon version in Spring 2017, as per the report. Its wagon version, the Audi
A6 Avant to be specific, will follow a year later. After the next-gen A6 Avant,
the next-gen Audi A7 follows.
Like the 2018 Audi A7 and 2018 Audi A8,
the A6′ design and styling would be inspired by the Audi Prologue concept. All
three models are said to share the platform, driveline, chassis and electrical
systems and this should help keeping the development and manufacturing costs
low.
Unlike its rival Mercedes E-Class, the
next-gen Audi A6 won’t come boasting new autonomous driving tech, suggests the
report. Autonomous driving tech introduction would be saved for the flagship
saloon A8. The fifth-gen A6 will see usage of carbon-fibre and aluminum and so,
be more than 100 kg lighter than the fourth-gen A6. Along with combustion
petrol and diesel engines, Audi will likely offer petrol-electric and/or
diesel-electric plug-in hybrid powertrain(s) as well.
